Medicare for All has a large "sticker price" because it directs all health care spending flows through the Treasury. But the CBO has made it clear that even moderate improvements over the status quo system would cause it to categorize all health spending as part of the federal budget. So the Big Number Problem of M4A is a problem for even moderate liberal proposals.
