The September 6 UI benefit cliff is rapidly approaching. Recent evidence from states that prematurely cut their UI benefits in Early June suggests that, when September 6 arrives, around 10 million people relying on UI income will set that income go to $0 while another 10 million will see their income cut by $300 per week ($15,600 per year). In the Early June states, employment did not increase as people will moved off the rolls. In fact, it slightly decreased.
