Jobs Report: Full-Time Employment Rate Ticks Up to 39.9%

The jobs report for May 2022 shows continued improvement in the labor market. The number of people employed increased by 321,000 to 158.426 million. Overall, 47.6 percent of the population was employed last month and 39.9 percent of the population was employed in a full-time job.

Nearly 1.6 million workers went from being employed to unemployed last month, bringing the total number of unemployment events in the last 12 months to 18.937 million, which is equal to 12.2 percent of the workforce.
