Here I argue that job guarantee advocates seem at times to be motivated by how the program would affect certainly economic statistics without any regard to whether those effects are meaningful or just statistical quirks. In particular, the arguments that the job guarantee would increase the GNP, reduce the unemployment rate, and increase the number of people living off their earnings are all based in statistical game-playing.
