Matt Bruenig dives into the Survey of Consumer finances to pull out the financial trends of young people between 1989 and 2016. He finds the median net worth of young families (excluding vehicles) to be just $1,250. Additionally, student debt levels for young families have increased 700% since 1989 while incomes for young families have declined from their high in 2001.
